On-Sale Walk-Throughs (e.g. bars, restaurants, beer gardens, etc.)

Law enforcement officers make unannounced visits to on-sale retail establishments such as bars and restaurants to monitor and look for alcohol violations, often checking IDs of patrons inside the establishments to identify underage individuals, looking for over-intoxication, and any other alcohol violations.

When should I consider implementing this strategy?
  • Youth are purchasing alcohol by using fake IDs
  • Retail staff are not carding
  • Youth are in bars or other on-sale retail establishments illegally
How do I implement this strategy?

Key Activities for Implementation:

  • Provide training to law enforcement on how to conduct Walk-Through
  • Build support with community and retailers
  • Provide information on importance of Walk-Through
